MAÏE - Montréal, Québec, Canada
An interview with Serge the cat for the "Miaou-Matin".
- HELLO MARIE-PAULE!
- WHAT IS YOUR WORK?
Inspired by my family, since 2014 I’ve been making toys, mainly in wool dyed with plants. I supply raplapla with ears, horns and snails. I learned my knitting skills at the Montreal Center for Contemporary Textiles. In my work, I try leaving the door open to the imagination.
- DO YOU HAVE A STUDIO ? WHAT 3 OBJECTS CAN’T YOU LIVE WITHOUT ?
My studio is at home. Often, I set up on the kitchen table or even better in the middle of the garden. My three essential tools are my knitting machine ; a round needle, a thread snipper or scissors and my knitting hook (a hook with a flaps to hold the stitches).
- WHO LIVE WITH YOU AND ARE THEIR NAMES ?
I live with my family : Aimé (my men), and our four kids Noam,Flore, Ophélie et Phoebé. I must have a plant or two… but I really don’t have a green thumb.
- DID YOU HAVE A FAVORITE TOY WHEN YOU WERE A KID ?
When I was little, my favorite plush was my big candy pink cow. Her name was Meuh-meuh. She had a burn on a but cheek, a torn off tail and an flat horn. I adored her…
- WHAT ARE YOUR THREE FAVORITE DESSERTS ?
I love desserts! It’s very difficult to choose only three. At the top of my list I would put : creme brulee, chocolate fondant and macaroons !!!
- THANK YOU, GOODBYE MARIE-PAULE.
